Chelsea Football Club have abandoned their pursuit of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen after failing to reach an agreement with the player himself, according to multiple reports.
The saga, which unfolded in the final hours of the transfer window, has left both the club and the player in a complex situation.
Sky Sports News chief reporter Kaveh Solhekol reported that the London-based club were awaiting response from Osimhen to their final offer.
“Chelsea are resigned to not signing Victor Osimhen this summer. The Blues made a final offer for the Napoli striker this evening but are still awaiting a response. With 20 minutes to go until the window closes, Osimhen is now not expected to move to Stamford Bridge,” he said.
The breakdown in negotiations was further confirmed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who provided additional details on the failed transfer.
Romano tweeted, “Deal completely OFF for Victor Osimhen. No agreement with Chelsea and #CFC delegation now leaving Napoli.”
Despite Chelsea’s efforts, it appears that they were unable to agree personal terms with Osimhen. This failure to reach an agreement with the player himself, rather than with Napoli, was the key factor in the collapse of the deal.
Romano added an intriguing detail about Osimhen’s situation at Napoli with new Coach Antonio Conte already stating his preference for Romelu Lukaku who has joined from Chelsea.
“If nothing happens from Saudi next 3 days, Osimhen will stay at Napoli but he’s NOT gonna be part of the first team squad. Relationship currently completely broken,” Fabrizio added.
This development suggests a severe deterioration in the relationship between Osimhen and Napoli, potentially leading to a difficult situation for all parties involved.
