Morocco’s Ghizlane Chebbak has been crowned the CAF Women’s Player of the Year for 2025, capping an impressive year for the Moroccan midfielder, Bold Sports reports.
The award was presented on Wednesday, November 19, at the 2025 CAF Awards ceremony held at the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University in Rabat, Morocco.
Chebbak claimed the honour ahead of Nigeria’s Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade and fellow Moroccan Sanna Mssoudy.
The Moroccan midfielder enjoyed a stellar WAFCON campaign, winning the Golden Boot with five goals and earning a place in the Team of the Tournament. Her consistent performances also earned her a spot in the prestigious FIFA FIFPRO Women’s World 11.
Ajibade, meanwhile, capped a remarkable year herself, captaining the Super Falcons to a record-extending 10th WAFCON title. She was named Player of the Tournament and featured in the Team of the Tournament, while also making a high-profile move to French giants Paris Saint-Germain. Ajibade has already made an impact in Europe, scoring her first UEFA Women’s Champions League goal against Real Madrid.
Despite narrowly missing out on the CAF award, Ajibade’s achievements this year reinforce her status as one of Africa’s top footballers, combining leadership, skill, and consistency at both national and club levels.
