Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika was sent off in a disappointing 3-1 defeat for Club Brugge against AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League.
The Nigerian was shown a straight red card in the 40th minute for a reckless tackle on Milan’s Tijjani Reijnders. Referee Felix Zwayer upheld the decision after a VAR review.

Milan had taken the lead in the 34th minute through Christian Pulisic, and Onyedika’s red card in the 40th minute left Brugge with 10 men. Despite a surprise equalizer by substitute Kyriani Sabbe in the 51st minute, Milan regained control as Reijnders scored twice in the 61st and 71st minutes to secure the win.
Onyedika’s dismissal comes as a significant blow to his club’s Champions League campaign. He will now miss three consecutive matches, including clashes against Aston Villa, Celtic, and Sporting Lisbon.
Samuel Chukwueze, Onyedika’s compatriot, played 30 minutes for Milan and assisted Reijnders’ second goal after coming on for Rafael Leao in the 60th minute.
