Super Eagles winger Ademola Lookman scored his first Champions League goal of the season and provided an assist as Atalanta claimed a commanding 3–0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt at the Deutsche Bank Park on Wednesday.
After a cagey first half, Atalanta exploded into life with a ruthless five-minute spell in the second half. Lookman broke the deadlock in the 60th minute, steering home a precise cross from Charles De Ketelaere to hand the Italian side the lead. The Nigerian international turned provider just two minutes later, threading a fine pass to Éderson, who doubled the advantage.
De Ketelaere then capped the dominant spell in the 65th minute, finishing off another flowing move to put the game beyond Frankfurt’s reach and seal Atalanta’s third win of their European campaign.

The victory lifts Atalanta to 10 points from five matches, placing them 10th in the Champions League standings as they prepare for a crucial clash against Chelsea. A win against the Blues could propel Raffaele Palladino’s side into the competition’s top eight.
Frankfurt, meanwhile, saw their hopes of progressing to the next round take another hit. The German side drop to 28th with just four points from five games and now face a difficult trip to Barcelona in their next game.
For Lookman, the goal and assist offer a timely boost in what has been a slow start to the season. The Super Eagles winger will be hoping Wednesday’s performance sparks an improved upturn in form as Atalanta push for a strong finish in the league phase.
