Nigerian Women’s Football League champions, Edo Queens, will face Congo’s TP Mazembe Ladies in the semifinals of the CAF Women’s Champions League on Tuesday at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca.
Edo Queens secured their place in the semifinals with a dramatic 2-1 victory over defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies. They scored two late goals in the 95th (Emem Peace Essien) and 101st (Mary Mamadu) minutes to turn the game around.
TP Mazembe, the Group A runners-up, defeated Senegal’s Aigles De La Medina 4-0 in their final group stage match.
The Congolese side will be heading into the game full of confidence on the back of their final group game win while it will be the same for the Nigerian side who have impressed in the competition and are yet to lose a game having recorded two group wins and a draw.
Both teams are eager to make history by reaching the final of the competition for the first time.
