After performing at the Afrobeat themed NBA All-Star Half-Time show in February, Nigeria’s Afrobeat sensation Burna Boy is set to once again light up the global stage as he will be headlining the UEFA Champions League final kick-off performance alongside another soon-to-be-announced global sensation at the Istanbul’s Atatürk Olympic Stadium on June 10.
Burna Boy has been on tour after the successful release of his sixth studio album Love, Damini which was nominated for two Grammy Awards in the Best Global Music Album and Best Global Music Performance respectively.
The 31-year-old Nigerian pop superstar says he is excited to be performing to thousands of fans in the stadium and billions of supporters across the globe in Istanbul.
“As a huge football fan myself, I know it doesn’t get any bigger than the UEFA Champions League! That’s why I’m so excited to be performing on the Pepsi MAX stage at this year’s final. Music and football are the ultimate combination, so you already know I’ll be bringing the vibes and making magic in Istanbul. The world ain’t ready for what we have in store!”
Burna Boy had performed alongside fellow Nigerians Tems and Rema at the NBA All-Star Half-Time show at Salt Lake City, Utah and were well received by the fans.
