Victor Boniface’s much-anticipated transfer to AC Milan is edging closer as his agent arrives in Italy to finalise the deal.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that the Nigerian striker’s representative is meeting Milan directors today to put the finishing touches on his switch from Bayer Leverkusen to the San Siro.

Talks accelerated on Wednesday after Milan dropped their pursuit of Manchester United’s Rasmus Hojlund and tabled an offer for Boniface. Both clubs have agreed on a loan deal with an option to buy, and the 24-year-old has already given his approval.

Sky Sport says paperwork is being worked on with hopes the deal will be done before Milan open their Serie A season against Cremonese on Saturday.

While Italian media have flagged concerns over Boniface’s injury record, he underwent two knee surgeries before 2020, the move marks a huge step for one of Nigeria’s brightest attacking talents.
