Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface has stirred debate on social media after naming Brazilian star Neymar and former French international Hatem Ben Arfa as his footballing greatest of all time.
The 25-year-old, who is currently sidelined with a knee injury, took to his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Tuesday to share his thoughts.
Boniface declared that his GOAT with the right foot is Neymar, while his GOAT with the left foot is Ben Arfa, a statement that quickly generated reactions among fans.
While Neymarâs name drew little surprise, Ben Arfaâs inclusion sparked curiosity among some commenters. One user replied, âBen Arfa? Never heard of that name.â Boniface responded: âNo worry we know una, na una sabi insult people,â suggesting that some fans may be quick to criticise players despite lacking deeper football knowledge.
Neymarâs reputation in world football is well established. The 34-year-old Brazilian rose to prominence at Santos before enjoying trophy-laden spells at Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain. After a stint in Saudi Arabia with Al Hilal, he returned to his boyhood club Santos, cementing his legacy as one of the most skilful players of his generation.
Ben Arfa, though perhaps less decorated, earned admiration for his exceptional flair and dribbling ability. Over the course of his career, he featured for clubs including Lyon, Marseille, Newcastle United, Hull City, Nice, Paris Saint-Germain, Rennes, Real Valladolid, Bordeaux and Lille, building a cult following among fans who appreciated his creativity on the ball.

Meanwhile, Boniface continues his recovery from injury. The striker spent the first half of the season at Werder Bremen before returning to Bayer Leverkusen, where he is undergoing rehabilitation. He is not expected to feature again this season as he focuses on regaining full fitness.
