Besiktas to battle Italian clubs for David Okereke

Turkish giants Besiktas have entered the race to sign Nigerian striker David Okereke as a replacement for Jackson Muleka who has become a top target for Saudi Arabia side Al Ahly.

Besiktas who will feature in next season’s Europa Conference League qualifiers after finishing third in the Turkish Super Lig last season will have to battle Italian Serie A sides Bologna, Cagliari, and Empoli for the services of the Cremonese striker.

The Nigerian featured for newly promoted Cremonese last season but could not prevent them from relegation as they finished 19th in the Serie A relegating alongside Sampdoria and Spezia.

Earlier reports in Italy had indicated that David Okereke is on the radar of Empoli, Bologna, and Cagliari while recent reports from Turkey have identified him as a top target for Besiktas who are hoping to bolster their attack in preparation for the formal exit of Muleka.

According to Askam, Beşiktaş has begun negotiations with Cremonese and are looking to sign the Nigerian for €4 million, a fee that is expected to be rejected by Cremonese.

The 25-year-old was on target nine times for Cremonese in the 2022/23 season in 38 games across all competitions while providing three assists. He has been a long-time target for the Turkish side.
