Bayer Leverkusen are in advanced talk to sign Nigerian striker Victor Boniface from Belgian side Royale Union Saint-Gilloise establishing themselves as favourites ahead of Premier League suitor Everton.
According to reports confirmed by respected football transfer expert Romano Fabrizio, negotiations between the Bundesliga side, Union St Gilloise, and Boniface are progressing fast and a deal could be concluded soon.
The 22-year-old is said to have agreed to personal terms with the German side while Union is holding off for a windfall around the region of €20m for the Nigerian who joined the club just last season for €2m from Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt.
During his one and only season with the Belgians, Boniface scored 22 goals while providing 12 assists in 55 games last season and was instrumental in helping the club compete for the league which they narrowly lost during the championships playoffs.
“Bayer Leverkusen are in advanced talks to sign Victor Boniface from Union St Gilloise — negotiations progressing and deal getting closer,” Fabrizio Romano Tweeted. “Nigerian striker has agreed personal terms with Leverkusen and clubs now negotiating deal worth more than €20m package.”
