Nigerian Women’s Football League (NWFL) champions Bayelsa Queens have booked their place in the semifinals of the CAF Women’s Champions League WAFU-B Qualifiers following a commanding 3-0 victory over Togolese side ASKO FC, Bold Sports reports.

The Prosperity Girls had made a winning start to their campaign, defeating Police Ladies 2-1 in their opening fixture thanks to goals from Shakirat Moshood and Emem Essien. Building on that momentum, they produced another solid display against ASKO to seal back-to-back victories.

After a goalless first half, Bayelsa Queens broke the deadlock early in the second period through an own goal, before Alaba Olabiyi doubled the lead just minutes later. Shakirat Moshood then wrapped up the win with a fine strike, netting her second goal of the tournament to secure all three points.

Vera Samuel was named Player of the Match for her commanding performance in midfield, dictating play and keeping ASKO on the back foot throughout.

Bayelsa Queens will play their final group game against Sam Nelly on August 30, a fixture expected to be used to rotate the squad ahead of the semifinals.

With two wins from two, Nigeria’s sole representatives in the competition are through to the semifinals and will await confirmation of their next opponent as they continue their quest for continental glory.
