Anunoby, Achiuwa combine for 50 points in Raptors win

OG Anunoby and Precious Achiuwa combined for 50 points to help the Toronto Raptors beat Boston Celtics 137-134 in their final preseason game at the Bell Centre in Montreal.

Anunoby led the 2019 champions in scoring with 32 points, six rebounds and two blocks shooting 62% FG, 80 3FG% in 29 minutes while Achiuwa contributed 18 points, eight rebounds and four assists in 37 minutes.

The win is the Raptors’ third victory in five preseason games, losing twice. The Raptors will open their 2022/23 NBA regular season game against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday October 20.

Achiuwa in action for the Raptors

At the Amway Centre, Isaac Okoro scored 17 points, three rebounds and one assist in 24 minutes of the Cleveland Cavaliers’ 114-108 loss to the Orlando Magic. Okoro who is hoping to have a breakout season in his third year in the league had scored 16 points in their previous game against the Atlanta Hawks which ended in a 105-99 win for the Cavs. 

KZ Okpala scored six points in seven minutes while Chima Moneke and Chimezie Metu both contributed four points each to the Sacramento Kings 113-86 win over the Los Angeles Lakers. The Kings are unbeaten in four preseason games played so far under former D’Tigers coach, Mike Brown, at the Golden 1 Centre. 

The Kings who would open their regular season campaign against the Portland Trail Blazers on Thursday won all four preseason games they were involved in.
