Al Masry striker, Fakhreddine Ben Youssef, believes his side has all it takes to collect maximum points in their CAF Confederation Cup Group D opener against Nigerian side Enyimba.
Al Masry is coming into the game fired up after their impressive 1-0 away win over domestic rivals and Confederation Cup group opponents Zamalek over the weekend.
The players quickly shifted their focus to facing Enyimba. Despite having only a couple of days to train and adapt their tactics for the Nigerian team, Ben Youssef is confident that the players have trained enough and are ready to face the two-time CAF Champions League winners on Wednesday.
“The game is going to be very difficult, and the opponent has great experience,” Ben Youssef told the press in a pre-match press conference. “We believe the support of the fans will give us great motivation.”
The former Metz, CS Sfaxien, and Tunisian international has also declared that their ambition is to be one of the two teams that make it out of the group, and that starts with the North Africans winning their first game at the Suez Canal Stadium on Wednesday.
“Our ambitions are very high, and the technical staff is making great efforts with the players. The players are fully prepared for the match.”
Both teams will be aiming to gather all available points to set the tone for the group. Enyimba arrived in Egypt early, with four days to spare, to better prepare and acclimatize to the weather. They are Nigeria’s sole representative on the continent.
