Al Masry coach, Ali Maher, has declared his side battle-ready for a crucial CAF Confederation Cup Group D opener against nine-time Nigerian champions Enyimba. The match is scheduled for Wednesday at the Suez Stadium.
Al Masry enters the game brimming with confidence after their impressive 1-0 victory over Egyptian giants Zamalek, who are also their group opponents in the Confederation Cup.
Despite playing with different tactics against Zamalek over the weekend, Maher insists that his team has quickly shifted focus to Enyimba. He is confident that his side can secure all three points in the upcoming match.
“We immediately turned our attention from the league to the Enyimba match after the Zamalek game. The players are prepared for the game, despite the short turnaround time,” Maher said at the pre-match press conference.
“We approach each match individually and strive to advance as far as possible in the CAF Confederation Cup. The support of our fans will undoubtedly motivate us to win.”
Maher is well aware of Enyimba’s rich history on the continent, including their historic victories over Egyptian teams in the CAF Champions League two decades ago.
“Enyimba is a formidable team with a strong African pedigree, but we are fully prepared to face them. We aim to ensure all our players are ready for both domestic league matches and the demanding African competitions,” he added.
