Akor Adams scores brace in French Ligue 1 debut

Nigerian striker Akor Adams announced his arrival to the French Ligue 1 with a bang scoring a brace – the fastest in the league since the 2006/07 season by a debutant – in Montpellier’s 2-2 draw against Le Havre in their season opener on Sunday.

Adams who joined from Norwegian side Lillestrøm SK recently was thrown into the fray and did not disappoint as his goals help earn a valuable point for the hosts who had gone behind from a Gautier Lloris goal in the 5th minute.

Adams found the back of the net in quick succession in the 58th and 60th minute and according to OptaJean, “There was only a minute and 42 seconds between Akor Adams’ 2 goals, the fastest double for a player for his 1st in Ligue 1 since Opta analyzes the competition (2006 /07).”

The 23-year-old netted his first goal after connecting with a well-delivered kick and his second was lovelier scoring following a delightful counterattack originating from the midfield. He cooly put the ball behind the net with his left foot. Samuel Grandsir secured 2-2 for the visitors
