Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade is poised for her first appearance with Paris Saint-Germain as the French Division 1 Féminine gets underway on Saturday (today), with PSG opening their campaign against Lens at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis, Bold Sports reports.

Ajibade completed her highly-anticipated move to Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer last month, following her departure from Spanish side Atletico Madrid. She signed a contract running until June 30, 2027 and will wear the club’s prestigious No. 10 shirt.

Since her arrival, the 25-year-old has joined full training with the squad and earned a place in Paulo Cesar’s traveling squad for the clash against Lens. She is joined by fellow Super Falcons forward Jennifer Echegini, who warmly welcomed Ajibade to the club.

Paris Saint-Germain will be aiming for a strong start to the new season, banking on Ajibade’s experience and her partnership with Echegini to provide the spark needed to drive their attack.

Paris Saint-Germain have not reclaimed the league crown since their historic triumph in the 2020-21 season, with Lyon maintaining a firm grip on the title. Heading into the new campaign, the Red and Blues are focused on breaking Lyon’s four-year streak and adding a second championship to their name.

Fresh from captaining the Super Falcons to a record 10th WAFCON crown — a campaign where she was also named Player of the Tournament — Ajibade will be looking to extend her stellar year with the Paris outfit.

Ajibade registered eight goals and three assists in 26 appearances across all competitions last season. She will now aim to surpass those numbers, beginning with PSG’s opener against Lens, scheduled for 8 p.m.
