Ajax have completed the signing of Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare from Championship side Wolves on a season-long loan deal, with an option to make the move permanent.
The Dutch giants confirmed the transfer in a statement on their official website on Wednesday, announcing that the 25-year-old will remain at the club until the summer of 2027 under the loan agreement.
Arokodare arrives in Amsterdam after spending one season with Wolves, where he made 38 appearances in all competitions, scoring six goals and providing two assists.
Before his move to England, the Nigerian forward enjoyed a prolific spell with Belgian side Genk, registering 41 goals and eight assists in 113 appearances to establish himself as one of the league’s most consistent attackers.

Ajax technical director Jordi Cruijff welcomed the arrival of the striker, describing him as a player with qualities the club had been lacking and expressing confidence that he would strengthen the squad.
“With Tolu, we are bringing in a striker with a profile that we did not previously have in the squad. He is a physically strong player who has already proven himself to be a goalscorer. We are confident that he will make an important contribution to the team next season,” Cruijff said.
Arokodare admitted the move represents a dream come true, having admired Ajax since childhood.
“It’s amazing. It’s a nice feeling. Since I was a kid I’ve known about them and I never imagined myself playing for them. Not because I don’t want to, but it’s a big club,” he said.
The striker also highlighted his style of play, insisting he is eager to contribute to the team’s success.
“I like to play and combine with my teammates. I like to help the team in whatever way I can. I’m a striker who just wants to play and who just wants to score.”
Looking ahead to the new campaign, Arokodare acknowledged Ajax’s lofty ambitions and expressed his determination to help the club return to the top.
“I know it’s a very ambitious club. It’s a club that wants to win big titles, always wants to play European football. The previous season didn’t go as it usually does because Ajax wants to be at the top, winning the league and playing Champions League football, and that’s what we’ll try to achieve this season.
“I know the goals of the team and the coach, and I want to try and achieve that with them.”
