Super Eagles duo Ahmed Musa and Shehu Abdullahi have expressed their gratitude to Kano Pillars fans for their remarkable support during the team’s first home game at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano this season.
Pillars had been playing their home games at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium in Katsina after the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) board deemed the Sani Abacha Stadium unfit to host league matches.
However, the team finally made their long-awaited return to their home turf, where thousands of fans filled the stands. Despite the enthusiastic atmosphere, Pillars struggled to secure a win, drawing 2-2 against visiting Heartland FC. Club legends Rabiu Ali and Ahmed Musa scored the goals for the hosts.
Musa, who scored a 75th-minute header—his fifth goal of the season—to tie the game, took to social media to thank the fans for their unwavering support:
“Huge thanks to all the amazing fans who came out in their thousands and showed their support yesterday!” Musa wrote. “Your energy and passion keep us giving our absolute best on the field. This is why they call us SAI MASU GIDA—because of YOU!
“Although it wasn’t the result we wanted, we keep on trying and pushing forward. Let’s keep the momentum going and chase more wins together!”
Shehu Abdullahi also praised the fans for their loyalty and enthusiasm throughout the match, describing the experience as emotional and inspiring. Reflecting on his past success with the team, Abdullahi expressed his determination to create more memorable moments:
“We returned home yesterday, and it was an emotional moment for the team and our precious fans. I made history with the team on this prestigious home ground, and I am looking forward to more success with the family. Our fans’ energy yesterday was electrifying,” Abdullahi wrote on X.
Both players joined Pillars after five games into the start of the new season and have solidified the team both defensively and offensively.
