Ahmed Musa dumps Sivasspor over unpaid wages

Nigerian national football team captain, Ahmed Musa, has left Turkish club Sivasspor after 17 months.

Ahmed Musa reportedly terminated his contract due to unpaid wages, according to top Nigerian football analyst Tobi Adepoju.

Adepoju, citing inside sources, revealed that Ahmed Musa notified the club of his intention to terminate the contract in December due to outstanding salaries. After a one-month notice period stipulated in his contract, both parties agreed to a mutual termination.

According to the document available to me, Musa notified Sivasspor of his decision to terminate his contract in December,” Adepoju tweeted.

“A month’s notice according to his contract clause has elapsed and the contract between both parties was terminated by mutual agreement.”

Reports suggest Sivasspor owes Musa six months’ worth of wages. This follows the January departure of five other first-team players who also cited unpaid salaries for their decision to leave the club.

“According to my source, Sivasspor owes Musa six months’ salaries and five of the first-team players terminated their contract in January when Musa was in the AFCON due to non-payment of their salaries.”

Musa only made four appearances for the club in all competitions scoring once.
