Remo Stars’ dream of winning the Nigeria Premier Football League title took a major hit after a dramatic 3-2 loss to Lobi Stars in their matchday 35 clash.

Victory would have put the Ikenne-based team on top of the table, while their title rivals, Rangers, faced a tough match against Enyimba.

Lobi Stars dominated the first half, with Christian Izuchukwu scoring in the 6th minute and Chinedu Sunday Chukwu adding a second in the 38th. Remo Stars responded just before halftime with a goal from Sikiru Alimi.

The Makurdi side extended their lead in the 85th minute through Stanley Oganbor. However, there was a late twist when Chinedu Sunday Chukwu accidentally put the ball in his own net, giving Remo a glimmer of hope. Unfortunately, their efforts to equalize proved futile.

While Remo Stars faltered, this win boosts Lobi Stars’ chances of finishing in the top 3 and securing a spot in the CAF Confederation Cup. They are now just four points behind the top three positions.
