Oyinlomo Quadre leads 8-player Nigerian tennis team for Africa Games

Nigerian tennis stars Oyinlomo Quadre (women’s) and Abubakar Yusuf (men’s) will lead a delegation of eight players to the 13th Africa Games in Accra, Ghana.

The carefully chosen team includes four men and four women. The men’s team features veterans like Abubakar Yusuf and Uche Oparaoji alongside Christopher Bulus and Wilson Igbinovia. On the women’s side, Oyinlomo Quadre is joined by Adesuwa Osabuohien, Divine Nweke, and Marylove Edwards.

While the opening ceremony for the Games is today, March 8th, the Nigerian tennis team will travel to Accra on March 11th for their matches.

Team Nigeria hopes to improve on the two bronze medals they secured at the 2019 Games in Rabat. Oyinlomo Quadre, a player for Florida International University and a previous bronze medalist in doubles and team events, will be aiming for a singles medal this time around.

The Nigerian Tennis Federation secretary, Makpa Aliyu, has expressed confidence that the coaches selected the strongest team to represent Nigeria at the Games.
