The Nigeria Football Federation has announced that they are currently accepting applications from qualified coaches for the open positions of Super Eagles coach and coach of the national U-17 team, the Golden Eaglets.
Despite guiding the West African nation to their first Africa Cup of Nations final in ten years, the NFF couldn’t come to terms with Portuguese tactician Jose Peseiro.

There’s been speculation suggesting that the NFF is considering former international Emmanuel Amuneke for the role, with George Finidi, currently the Enyimba boss, potentially serving as his assistant.
According to the NFF, applications for these positions will close on March 12, 2024. Coaches vying for the Super Eagles position are required to demonstrate a proven track record of success in leading national or club teams, along with a comprehensive understanding of African football.
Here’s what we’re looking for in our next Super Eagles Head Coach:
- Top-Tier Qualifications: You’ll possess the necessary coaching qualifications to lead a national team.
- Elite Experience: Proven experience managing football at the highest level is essential.
- Winning Mentality: A successful track record of leading teams to victories is a must.
- Africa in Focus: While not mandatory, knowledge of African football will be a strong positive.
Candidates applying for the U-17 position should exhibit a strong passion for grassroots development and possess the patience necessary to nurture young players and enhance their skills. Additionally, a CAF B coaching license is a prerequisite for this role.
