Exciting Nigerian forward, Victor Orakpo, says he’s excited to have joined French Ligue 1 side OGC Nice and can’t wait to get to work.

Nice on Wednesday announced the signing of the 18-year-old Nigeria U-20 star from Bayern Munich beating Premier League sides Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United to his signature.

Orakpo says he sees Nice as a place where he could develop his budding career compared to the other top European suitors, “It’s an honour to join the club,” Orakpo told the club’s media team after signing the dotted lines.

“Here, I got a good feeling immediately. OGC Nice has big ambitions, and so do I, so I can’t wait to get down to work and to show my qualities.”

Nice president Jean-Pierre Rivère says he is delighted they were able to beat other teams to his signature, “Several European clubs were tracking Victor, so we’re pleased that he’s joined us. We wish him welcome and will do everything that we can to help him blossom with us.

“Victor is an 18-year-old striker with considerable potential. He’ll initially join our Elite reserve squad, where we’ll try to put him in the best possible conditions and give him time to develop, and we hope that he becomes an important player for Le Gym in the years ahead.”
