Bayer Leverkusen have congratulated striker Victor Boniface on his maiden call-up to the Nigerian senior national team, the Super Eagles, after his impressive form since the start of the season.
The Super Eagles are billed to face Sao Tome and Principe in their final 2024 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Uyo on September 10. The game is a dead rubber as Nigeria have already booked a ticket to the competition set to be held in Ivory Coast.
Boniface joined Leverkusen in the summer and has taken the German Bundesliga by storm scoring five goals in four appearances with four of those goals coming in the Bundesliga.

Over the last few months, there have been calls from fans in Nigeria to invite the 22-year-old striker who had his breakthrough last season with Belgian side Royale Union Saint-Gilloise along with Gent’s striker Gift Orban who has been in sensational form as well.
Reacting to the invitation of the striker which was announced on Sunday by the Nigeria Football Federation, Leverkusen said the call-up was well deserved, “Victor Boniface was first called up for the Nigerian national team. Congratulations Vic, you totally deserve this!” The club tweeted.
Boniface will be fighting for a shirt alongside a pool of talented forwards such as Kelechi Iheanacho, Samuel Chukwueze, Moses Simon, Ademola Lookman, Victor Osimhen, and Taiwo Awoniyi.
