Flamingos head coach Akeem Busari has released a 21-player squad for the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, which will be hosted by Morocco from October 17 to November 7.
Fresh from their perfect 2026 WAFU-B U-17 Girls’ Cup triumph, Busari has made only a few changes to the squad that competed at the tournament, as the Flamingos look to carry their impressive form onto the global stage.
Captain Harmony Chidi leads the squad after an impressive outing both on and off the pitch at the WAFU-B tournament, while Oluwakemi Adegbuyi, who was initially called up to the Super Falcons squad for their Olympic qualifier, remains with the Flamingos for the World Cup.
Onyinyechi Opara, who won the Golden Glove award at the WAFU-B Girls’ Cup, is named among the three goalkeepers, alongside Mercy Felix and Jane Ijirigho.

The Flamingos will compete in Group B of the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup alongside Poland, who made their tournament debut in 2024, debutants Puerto Rico, and defending champions North Korea.
For Nigeria, the tournament represents another opportunity to go all the way and land a first-ever World Cup title at this level. The Flamingos have reached the quarter-finals on four previous occasions, in 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2024, but a maiden crown continues to elude them.
Their finest showing at the tournament came in 2022, when the side famously finished third. At the 2025 edition, which was also staged in Morocco, Nigeria advanced from the group stage before their campaign was ended by a 4-0 defeat to Italy in the Round of 16.
