Nigeria’s Flamingos have won the 2026 WAFU B U-17 Girls’ Cup after completing a perfect campaign with a convincing 4-0 victory over Togo in their fifth and final fixture at the Lycée Scientifique pitch in Yamoussoukro on Sunday.
The Flamingos entered the final game looking to maintain their winning streak after securing four victories in their opening four matches. Two goals in each half helped Nigeria achieve that objective, as they finished the tournament with five wins from five matches.
Nigeria started the game in dominant fashion and took the lead in the 15th minute after Kemi Adegbuyi won a penalty following a foul inside the box. Captain Chidera Harmony stepped up and confidently converted from the spot to give the Flamingos a 1-0 lead.
Adegbuyi was involved again in the 35th minute when she won another penalty, presenting Nigeria with an opportunity to double their advantage. Harmony once again made no mistake, producing another composed finish from the spot to put the Flamingos 2-0 ahead.

Togo managed to keep Nigeria from adding to the scoreline until the 67th minute, when 16-year-old striker Oluebube Umejiaku made it 3-0. The youngster produced a stunning effort from outside the box, catching the Togolese goalkeeper off guard as the ball found the back of the net.
Adegbuyi capped an impressive individual performance by getting on the scoresheet in the closing stages of the match, completing the 4-0 victory and putting the finishing touch on another dominant display from the Flamingos.
The result brought a victorious end to an outstanding tournament for Akeem Busari’s side. Nigeria opened their campaign with a 5-0 victory over Niger before defeating Ghana 4-2 and recording 2-0 wins over Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast.
Across their five matches, the Flamingos scored 17 goals while conceding just two, underlining their dominance throughout the competition.
Nigeria will now turn their attention to the upcoming FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, which will be hosted by Morocco from October 17 to November 7, 2026.
The Flamingos are drawn in Group B where they will compete alongside Poland, debutants Puerto Rico and defending champions North Korea.
