Enyimba finally secured their first victory of the 2026/27 EuroMatch Nigeria Premier Football League season on Wednesday. The nine-time champions defeated Shooting Stars 4-2 in Aba during the rescheduled Matchday 2 fixtures, Bold Sports reports.
The result ended Enyimba’s difficult opening run. They had lost to Niger Tornadoes, Doma United and Inter Lagos before drawing 0-0 with Kano Pillars on September 27.
Enyimba find their scoring touch
Enyimba made a fast start at the Enyimba Stadium. Richard Ezinna opened the scoring in the sixth minute.
Chibueze Damian then doubled the advantage in the 28th minute. The midfielder produced a long-range strike to put the hosts firmly in control.

Enyimba added a third goal before half-time. Idris Abubakar finished from an assist by Odinaka Obichere in the 36th minute.
The home side continued their strong display after the restart. Ifeanyi Ihemekwele made it 4-0 four minutes into the second half.
Shooting Stars responded late in the match. Mustapha Adams Agba’a pulled one back in the 76th minute.
Johnmark Aule then scored in added time. However, the late response could not change the outcome.
Enyimba held on for a 4-2 victory and moved off the bottom of the standings. Their first league win also gave the Aba club three valuable points.
Rangers move top after Ozoro victory
Rangers International also collected maximum points away from home. The defending champions defeated Warri Wolves 1-0 in Ozoro. Godwin Obaje scored the decisive goal in the 10th minute.
The result was an important response for Rangers. They had suffered their first league defeat of the season against Ikorodu City on September 27.
Before that setback, Rangers had beaten Ranchers Bees and Kun Khalifat. They also defeated Nasarawa United earlier in the campaign.
The three points took Rangers to 13 points from six matches. That moved the champions above Barau FC at the top of the early NPFL standings.
Lagos derby ends without a goal
There was no winner in the Lagos derby between Sporting Lagos and Ikorodu City. The two sides played out a 0-0 draw at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena. Neither team could find the breakthrough during the contest.
Sporting Lagos entered the fixture after drawing 1-1 with Barau FC. Ikorodu City, meanwhile, came into the derby after defeating Rangers 2-0.
Rivers United held in Katsina
Katsina United and Rivers United also shared the points.
The game at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium ended 1-1. Rivers United took the lead through Samson Olasupo in the 47th minute.
Katsina United responded three minutes later. Sani Mubarak restored parity with a free-kick in the 50th minute.
Neither side found a winner after that. Both teams therefore settled for one point from the rescheduled fixture.
The four results completed the outstanding rescheduled Matchday 2 fixtures involving Enyimba, Rangers, Sporting Lagos, Ikorodu City, Katsina United and Rivers United.
