Nigeria has resumed its CAF A-License coaching programme after a nine-year absence, with 25 top-flight coaches beginning a two-module course in Abuja, Bold Sports reports.
The latest cohort brings together coaches from Nigeria’s national teams, Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) clubs and Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) clubs. They have started intensive theoretical and practical sessions as part of the programme.
NFF returns to CAF A-License programme
The course began in the Federal Capital Territory on Monday. It marks Nigeria’s return to the CAF A-License Convention after nine years.
The return adds another level to the coaching programmes organised by the Nigeria Football Federation. The NFF has continued to run D-License, C-License and B-License courses during that period.

The federation also organised a CAF C-License course exclusively for women in 2025. That programme featured three modules and ran for three months.
The new CAF A-License course will also take place across two modules. The second and final module will hold next month.
25 coaches begin intensive training
The 25 coaches form the first cohort for the renewed CAF A-License programme in Nigeria.
Their participation covers different levels of the country’s elite football structure. National team coaches joined their counterparts from NPFL and NWFL clubs for the training.
The first module will run for five days. Acting NFF General Secretary, Dr Emmanuel Ikpeme, is scheduled to declare the module open on Wednesday.
The programme combines classroom-based learning with practical work. This gives the participating coaches both theoretical and practical components during the first stage.
Nigeria’s return to the CAF A-License Convention also marks a significant step in the federation’s coaching education structure.
The NFF has maintained its lower-level coaching courses while working towards the return of the top-level CAF programme. The latest course now gives 25 top-flight coaches an opportunity to continue their professional development.
With the concluding module scheduled for next month, the programme will continue beyond the current five-day opening phase.
