Brighton & Hove Albion coach Fabian Hürzeler has highlighted the qualities that attracted him to Nigerian winger Femi Azeez following his move from Millwall, Bold Sports reports.
The 25-year-old enjoyed an outstanding 2025/26 season with Millwall. He scored 11 goals and supplied seven assists in the Championship. His displays earned him a place in the PFA Championship Team of the Year.
Azeez joined Brighton from Millwall on a four-year contract. The deal came together on transfer deadline day.
Hürzeler sees Azeez as a versatile attacking option. The Nigerian can operate from either flank. He can also threaten with both feet.
“Femi’s a winger, he can score with the right and with the left foot. He has really good decision-making in the final third”, Hürzeler said.
That attacking ability stands out after Azeez’s impressive campaign. He helped Millwall reach the Championship play-offs last season. The Lions eventually lost to Hull City in the semi-finals.
Hürzeler also values Azeez’s effort without the ball. The winger’s ability to work hard could help him adapt to Brighton’s demands.
“He’s a hard worker. I’m really pleased with the transfer window.
“Of course, there have been a lot of changes. Now it’s about us integrating all the new players as quickly as possible and becoming a really strong unit, and that’s our responsibility now.”
However, Azeez must first overcome an injury issue. He picked up the problem during Millwall’s opening Championship game against Bristol City.
“Femi is obviously carrying a slight injury at the moment”, Hürzeler said.
The injury also ruled him out of Brighton’s meeting with Leeds United. His debut therefore remains delayed.
Brighton will hope Azeez returns soon. His goals, creativity and work rate could add another dimension to their attack.
