Esther Okoronkwo has accused staff at the Marriott Hotel in Casablanca of stealing money from several members of the Super Falcons squad.
Okoronkwo made the allegations in a series of posts shared on her Snapchat account on Friday, claiming that cash was stolen from her wallet while the team was staying at the hotel.
The 29-year-old initially said $500 had gone missing before later updating that she had recalculated the amount and discovered $700 had been stolen.
She also alleged that other Super Falcons players had money taken from their wallets, claiming the incident affected multiple members of the squad.

“This hotel Marriott in Casablanca just stole about a lot of people’s money from their wallet!” Okoronkwo wrote. “They just stole 500 USD from me!! They stole couple of dollars from my teammate.”
In a later post, she corrected the amount, writing: “Guys I did my calculations wrong, they actually stole 700 not 500 USD.”
Okoronkwo further alleged that the thefts occurred while the players were away from their rooms, accusing cleaners of taking the money during scheduled cleaning.
“The cleaning people stole the money. So they waited while we weren’t in the room to clean and steal the money,” she claimed.
The Super Falcons forward also said the players confronted hotel officials over the alleged theft but claimed they received no satisfactory explanation.
“We started talking to them and they don’t have answers. They also started being disrespectful,” she wrote.
The Super Falcons are currently camped at the Marriott Hotel in Casablanca as they continue preparations for the 2026 WAFCON, which gets underway on Sunday in Morocco.
Nigeria will begin their title defence against Malawi on Tuesday before taking on Zambia on Saturday, August 1, and Egypt on Wednesday, August 5.
The ten-time African champions are aiming to successfully defend the title they won in Morocco last year, when they produced a stunning comeback to defeat the hosts 3-2 in a thrilling final and claim a record-extending 10th WAFCON crown.
Okoronkwo was one of Nigeria’s standout performers during that triumphant campaign, playing a key role in the Super Falcons’ successful title run.
Neither the Marriott Hotel Casablanca nor the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has publicly responded to the allegations made by the Super Falcons forward.
