Ashleigh Plumptre has been sidelined since February due to a persistent foot injury. The setback required surgery on her left foot, after which she began a rehabilitation programme in the United Kingdom.

Earlier this month, the 28-year-old offered a positive update on her recovery, hinting that she could soon make her return to action. Her progress has raised hopes that she will be available for the start of the 2026/27 Saudi Women’s Premier League season.

Despite her lengthy spell on the sidelines, Al Ittihad have demonstrated their confidence in the defender by handing her a contract extension, underlining the club’s belief in her quality and long-term importance to the team.
