Genk have completed the signing of Nigerian striker Rafiu Durosinmi from Italian side Pisa on a four-year contract, Bold Sports reports.
The Belgian Pro League club confirmed the transfer in a statement released on their official website on Thursday, announcing that the 23-year-old has signed a deal that will keep him at the Cegeka Arena until the end of June 2030.
Durosinmi arrives in Belgium after a brief spell with Pisa, where he registered one goal and one assist in 12 appearances. Before moving to Italy, the Nigerian enjoyed a productive stint at Czech club Viktoria Plzeň, scoring 35 goals and providing nine assists in 86 appearances across all competitions.
Speaking after the transfer was confirmed, Genk’s Head of Football, Dimitri de Condé, expressed confidence that the striker has the qualities needed to thrive at the club.

“Rafiu is a striker with qualities that align well with the way KRC Genk wants to play,” De Condé said.
“He is good in the box and also strong on the ball in combination play. A typical number nine to whom you can pass the ball. We were also looking for a profile that can make an immediate impact and that fits within our ambition to compete at the top again. Rafiu meets those requirements.”
Durosinmi revealed that Genk’s playing philosophy, ambition and player development structure were key factors behind his decision to make the move to Belgium.
The Nigerian also disclosed that he sought the advice of compatriot Paul Onuachu before completing the transfer. Onuachu enjoyed a remarkable spell at Genk, scoring 85 goals and providing eight assists in 134 appearances to establish himself as one of the club’s greatest forwards.
“I want to be important for the team from day one, score goals, and give everything in every match,” Durosinmi said.
“I spoke with Paul about the club. He told me many great things about Genk, the supporters, and the way the club works with players. I am proud to be a Genkie.”
Durosinmi will hope to follow the footsteps of another Nigerian striker, Tolu Arokodare, who made a significant impact during his time at the Belgian club with 41 goals and eight assists in 113 appearances.
The move offers the 23-year-old an opportunity to revive his career after an underwhelming spell in Serie A, while aiming to continue the rich tradition of Nigerian forwards who have flourished at Genk.
