Nigerian striker Terem Moffi has received public support from Francesco Farioli after being jeered by sections of supporters during FC Porto’s UEFA Europa League encounter with Nottingham Forest on Thursday night, Boldsports report.
According to reports from O Jogo, the Porto manager addressed the situation ahead of his side’s upcoming league fixture against Estoril Praia, urging fans to remain patient with the forward despite his underwhelming display in Europe.
The Nigerian striker, who joined Porto in the winter transfer window, has yet to find consistent form and struggled to influence the Europa League clash against Nottingham Forest.
Rather than criticise the supporters outright, Farioli acknowledged their high standards while stressing that the striker deserves continued encouragement.

“We know that our fans are demanding, which is good, “Farioli said, according to O Jogo, during his press conference before the Liga Portugal clash against Estoril Praia.
Reflecting on the moment that sparked the reaction inside the stadium, the Italian tactician defended the Nigerian international’s commitment behind the scenes.
“In the match against Nottingham, there was a moment of some frustration, but he’s trying his best, working hard in recent months.”
Despite Moffi’s recent struggles, Farioli remains convinced that the forward is gradually finding his rhythm and will soon deliver consistently for the team.
“He’s on the right track, he’s already scored important goals for us and more will come,” he added.
The Porto boss also used the opportunity to call for unity within the club, reminding supporters of the importance of standing firmly behind the squad during difficult moments.
”The frustration and emotion of the moment must remain in that moment; the Porto family must be united and undoubtedly support the team, showing that all the players are focused on what’s best for FC Porto,” the manager said.
Since making the move to Porto, Moffi has been working to regain top form, registering one goal and one assist across seven Liga Portugal appearances so far. As attention now shifts to the domestic clash against Estoril Praia, the Nigerian forward will be eager to respond on the pitch and win over the supporters with a stronger performance.
