Paul Onuachu will miss Trabzonspor’s Turkish Super Lig clash against Alanyaspor after suffering a muscle injury in training, Bold Sports reports.

The Nigerian striker’s injury comes as a major blow for Trabzonspor, with Onuachu currently leading the league’s scoring chart with 22 goals this season. He was also on target in their last match, scoring the opener in a 2-1 win over Galatasaray, further underlining his importance to the team’s title push.

Trabzonspor confirmed the development in an official statement, with Head of Medical Board Prof. Dr. Ahmet Beşir revealing that the forward experienced pain and stiffness in the upper anterior thigh muscle group during training.

“Following an initial assessment of our player Paul Onuachu, who experienced pain and stiffness in the upper anterior thigh muscle group during our training session, a muscle injury is suspected, and he has been removed from the Corendon Alanyaspor match squad,” Beşir said.

He added that treatment has already begun, with the club’s medical team closely monitoring the striker’s recovery from the muscle injury.

Onuachu’s injury could prove costly for Trabzonspor, who are chasing their first Turkish Super Lig title since 2022. A win against Alanyaspor would have seen them close the gap to within one point of league leaders Galatasaray.

With just six games remaining this season, Trabzonspor must maintain a near-perfect run to overtake Galatasaray, making Paul Onuachu’s fitness a major concern in the final stretch.
