After suffering a painful defeat in their last outing against Rivers united, Bendel Insurance were determined to make amends and secure vital points in front of their home fans – and they delivered with a 2–1 victory over Kun Khalifat at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.

‎The hosts took control early. Inside the 5th minute, Kun Khalifat keeper Ejiogu Chijioke fumbled a straightforward save, gifting Emmanuel Akpan the opening goal. The strike sent the crowd into raptures, and instantly eased some of the pressure Insurance felt after their previous setback.

‎Insurance continued to build momentum, keeping the ball sharp and probing the Kun Khalifat defence with intelligent passing. Their efforts paid off just before halftime: in the 41st minute, Emmanuel Dung orchestrated a fine move before teeing up Kayode Oke, who made no mistake and slotted home to give Bendel Insurance a deserved 2–0 advantage going into the break.

Kun Khalifat, desperate for points themselves, didn’t go quietly. They came out strongly in the second half and were rewarded in the 52nd minute when Lekan Gabriel reduce the deficit to 2–1. The goal breathed life into the visitors and set up a tense finish.

‎Despite sustained pressure, Kun Khalifat couldn’t find the equaliser. Insurance stood firm, showing grit and control in defence to see out the win.

‎The victory was an important one for Bendel Insurance. After a stuttering performance in their previous game — where they suffered defeat and dropped valuable points – this win restores confidence and momentum as they aim for a top‑half finish. With 44 points from 30 matches, Insurance now look more assured in their quest to climb higher in the table.

‎Kun Khalifat remain 18th with 32 points from 30 fixtures, and while they showed fighting spirit, their continued struggles at the back keep them in a precarious position as the season enters its final phase.

For Bendel Insurance, this result will serve as a reminder of their potential and why they still have ambitions beyond mid‑table. Playing at home clearly boosts their form, and with supporters behind them, they now target further wins to solidify their standing.

‎Kun Khalifat, on the other hand, hope to escape relegation trouble as the season approaches its end.
