Nigerian striker Josh Maja ended a 25-game goal drought, finding the back of the net in West Bromwich Albion’s 3–0 victory over Hull City in the EFL Championship at The Hawthorns, as the Baggies look to keep their survival hopes alive.
Maja, who last scored in West Brom’s 3–2 win over Swansea City in November 2025, had endured more than 528 minutes without a goal.
The one-cap Super Eagles striker broke the deadlock in the 25th minute to hand the hosts the lead in a must-win encounter. What was expected to be a difficult game against fifth-placed Hull City became easier for West Brom after Hull defender Charlie Hughes was sent off in the 36th minute.

Aune Heggebø doubled West Brom’s advantage in the 67th minute before Isaac Price sealed the emphatic victory with a stoppage-time goal in the 94th minute.
Maja has been one of the club’s most dependable strikers, but he has struggled to rediscover his best form after suffering a lengthy calf injury last season that sidelined him for more than 20 games and effectively ended his campaign early.
His strike against Hull City was just his second goal of the season in 32 appearances. Maja’s dip in form, combined with the absence of several key players, has contributed to West Brom’s difficult season, leaving them in the relegation zone with 10 games remaining.
