Fulham manager Marco Silva has confirmed that Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze will not be available for Sunday’s Premier League fixture against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
The Super Eagles forward sustained a minor calf problem during Fulham’s 3–0 defeat to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. He was subsequently absent when the Cottagers secured victory over Stoke City in the FA Cup.
Chukwueze had been among several first-team players rested by Silva for the tie against the Championship opposition, with Alex Iwobi the only regular starter to feature in that match.
Addressing the media ahead of the Sunderland clash, Silva clarified that the injury is not a serious one and revealed that the winger participated in some drills on Friday morning.

“The only player who is going to be out of the game is Chukwueze. After City he felt something in his calf, nothing serious but even today in the morning he was involved in some drills,” Silva said.
The Fulham boss further indicated that the 26-year-old is expected to return to full training early next week and should be available for the following match.
”Probably in the first section of next week, he is going to be completely ready to work with the team and he is going to be back for the next game.”
Chukwueze’s absence represents a setback for Fulham as they prepare for the weekend fixture, with fellow summer signing Kevin Santos a potential replacement on the wing.

The Nigeria international, who joined Fulham on loan from AC Milan, has rediscovered his form in the Premier League following a challenging spell in Serie A.
So far this season, he has recorded three goals and four assists in 13 league appearances, playing an important role as Fulham continue their push for a European place.
