Coventry City manager Frank Lampard has revealed that midfielder Frank Onyeka could miss upcoming fixtures as he prepares to welcome his child.

Speaking about Onyeka’s potential involvement following his loan move from Brentford, Lampard explained that the situation remains fluid due to the imminent arrival of the Nigerian’s baby.

“Well, we hope so. He’s trained with us for a few days. His wife is due to have a baby at any moment now, so we’re managing that situation as it stands. I hope he’ll be involved because we’re hoping for him, of course,” Lampard said.

Onyeka is yet to make his debut for the Sky Blues since sealing his loan switch, but he has already been integrated into the squad and has taken part in training sessions. Lampard stressed that while the midfielder’s contribution on the pitch is important, the club fully respects and supports his family commitments.

Coventry supporters are eager to see the Nigerian international in action, particularly given the importance of midfield stability in Lampard’s tactical setup. Onyeka’s energy, versatility and defensive awareness are expected to add balance and depth to the squad.

With weekend fixtures approaching, his availability remains uncertain. Regardless of whether he features, the club and its fans will be hoping for good news for Onyeka and his family as they prepare for the special occasion.
