…Remo Stars 15th on NPFL table
Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions Remo Stars have been fined a total of ₦7 million and banished to the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan for the remainder of the season following crowd trouble and vandalism during their Matchday 20 clash against rivals Ihttps://boldsportsng.com/tag/remo-stars/korodu City.
Remo Stars secured a 1–0 victory in the encounter, but the game was marred by unrest as home supporters began throwing objects onto the pitch.
The situation escalated into a full-blown confrontation between fans of both clubs, culminating in the vandalisation of Ikorodu City’s team bus and vehicles belonging to their supporters as they exited the Ikenne community.

In a decision announced on Thursday, the league body sanctioned the champions for breaching several provisions of the NPFL Framework and Rules, citing failure to provide adequate security and an inability to properly control their supporters, which led to a breakdown of law and order.
“Remo Stars have been charged for breaching the NPFL Framework & Rules in the course of their Matchday 20 fixture vs Ikorodu City on January 14, 2026,” the NPFL disciplinary body said in a statement.
“The champions failed to provide adequate & effective security during their home game vs Ikorodu City, leading to a brawl between fans of both clubs and resulting in injuries to away fans and damage to vehicles.

“Remo Stars also failed to ensure proper conduct of their supporters, resulting in the harassment and intimidation of match officials. Their supporters threw objects onto the pitch, causing several stoppages during the match.
“Furthermore, Remo Stars supporters displayed barbaric behaviour by bringing dangerous objects and weapons into the stadium, capable of bringing the game into disrepute.”
As a result, the league body imposed a ₦7 million fine on the Ikenne-based side, who only recently returned to their renovated home ground after playing the first half of the season at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta.

“The club is hereby fined ₦2 million for failing to provide adequate & effective security, ₦1 million for throwing objects towards the field of play, ₦1 million for the improper conduct of their supporters, and another ₦1 million for misconduct capable of bringing the game into disrepute.
“A further ₦2 million fine has been imposed as compensatory costs for damages to the away team bus and supporters. Additionally, Remo Stars will play their remaining NPFL26 home matches at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan following the incident at their Ikenne ground.”
The banishment comes as a major setback for Remo Stars, who had hoped that returning home after completing stadium renovations would spark a turnaround in their campaign. Instead, the champions find themselves struggling in 15th place, having recorded just eight wins, 12 defeats, and one draw so far this season.
