Florida Gators center Reuben Chinyelu has been named the NCAA Southeastern Conference (SEC) Player of the Week for the week of January 19, 2026.
The 22-year-old University of Florida big man has impressed in recent weeks, averaging 19.5 points, 11.0 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks in victories over Oklahoma and No. 10 Vanderbilt.
Chinyelu posted back-to-back double-doubles in his last two NCAA games. He recorded 20 points, 10 rebounds, and three assists in 31 minutes on the court against Vanderbilt, before adding 19 points and 12 rebounds against Oklahoma three days earlier.

The Nigerian-born center and former NBA Africa Academy player has been one of the most impressive college basketball players this season after opting to withdraw from the 2025 NBA Draft to further develop his game and improve his chances of being selected in the 2026 draft.
Last season, Chinyelu played a key role in leading the Gators to the national title with a victory over Houston, securing the program’s first championship since their back-to-back titles in 2006 and 2007.
Up next, he will turn his attention to Florida’s matchup against Louisiana State University (LSU) as the Gators look to secure a fifth consecutive win in SEC play.
