…Super Eagles call-up a dream come true – Akinsanmiro
Ebenezer Akinsanmiro has described his first call-up to the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) as an emotional moment he never quite expected, admitting that stepping onto Africa’s biggest football stage has left him both excited and surprised, Bold Sports reports.
Speaking to Elegbete TV from Nigeria’s AFCON camp, the Italy-based midfielder said wearing the national colours at such a major tournament felt surreal, given the winding path his career has taken.
“I feel excited and surprised at the same time,” he said. “But above all, I’m happy to be here today.”
While representing the national team has long been a personal ambition, Akinsanmiro admitted he did not anticipate the opportunity coming so soon, especially considering the depth of talent available to the Super Eagles.

“It has always been my dream, but when you look at the global players Nigeria has, I feel so surprised,” he explained. “My journey in football hasn’t been straight, so that makes this moment even more surprising.”
The midfielder also praised the welcoming atmosphere within the camp, revealing that his teammates have helped him settle quickly.
“Everybody is nice. They treat me like a brother and give me advice,” he said.
Currently plying his trade in Italy, Akinsanmiro spoke fondly about life in Serie A and remains open-minded about what lies ahead in his club career.

“I love to play in Italy, and also at Inter,” he said. “I don’t mind, but I don’t know what the future holds.”
When asked about his inspirations at club level, he singled out Inter Milan midfielder Hakan Çalhanoğlu as his favourite player, citing the Turkey international’s influence and quality.
Now focused on the task at hand, Akinsanmiro will be hoping his journey continues with meaningful minutes on the AFCON stage.
