Ikorodu City continued their impressive run of form in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), holding Rivers United to a 0-0 draw in their rescheduled Matchday 10 clash at the Adokiye Amesiamaka Stadium on Wednesday.
Rivers United technical manager, Finidi George, fielded the same lineup that defeated Black Bulls 3-1 in their CAF Champions League tie in Uyo over the weekend. Ikorodu City, on the other hand, named a new midfield combo with Ibifubara Dagogo, Folarin Temitope, and Tomisin Adebayo, while Oparaocha Chidera led the attack.
The visitors started brightly, with Chidera testing Rivers United goalkeeper Osagie Onisodumeya early in the game. The hosts, however, soon settled into rhythm but failed to make their chances count, as both sides went into the break without a goal.
Finidi made early substitutions in the second half in an attempt to inject more creativity and energy into his side, but the Pride of Rivers were unable to find a breakthrough despite creating a handful of opportunities. Ikorodu City also brought in fresh legs into the game, holding firm under pressure from the hosts.

With just minutes left on the clock, Ikorodu’s goalkeeper Michael Atata produced a stunning point-blank save to deny Rivers United what could have been the winning goal, a moment that ultimately preserved a share of the spoils.
The result means Ikorodu City have now extended their unbeaten run to five matches, climbing to fifth place on the NPFL table with 15 points, just two points adrift of the top four. Rivers United, meanwhile move to 13 points, with two outstanding games still to play.
