After a narrow 3-2 defeat to Enyimba last week, Bendel Insurance will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) when they host Bayelsa United at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin, later today.
The Edo Arsenals have endured a difficult start to the 2025/26 season, registering just one win in five matches. Losses to El Kanemi Warriors and Enyimba, coupled with draws against Shooting Stars and Barau FC, have left them sitting 15th on the log.
Their visitors, Bayelsa United, began the campaign brightly with back-to-back victories but have since hit a slump, failing to pick up a point in their last three outings. They lost home fixtures to Enyimba and Nasarawa United, as well as an away trip to Niger Tornadoes.

With both sides desperate to halt their poor run, today’s early kickoff promises to be a tightly contested battle.
Elsewhere in the NPFL, Plateau United (19th) take on El Kanemi Warriors (6th) in another Saturday fixture. Plateau, with just one win so far, are chasing their second victory of the campaign.
El Kanemi, meanwhile, have enjoyed a strong start, claiming two wins, two draws, and only one defeat from their opening five games. Fresh from last week’s 1-0 triumph over Warri Wolves, the Desert Warriors will be eyeing their first away victory of the season.

A win could lift them to second on the table with 11 points, level with leaders Enyimba, who still have a game in hand.
