Amy Okonkwo made her first-ever WNBA start for the Dallas Wings in their 96-71 loss to the Minnesota Lynx at the Target Center.
After impressing in her first four games for the franchise, head coach Chris Koclanes handed the D’Tigress star a starting role alongside Maddy Siegrist, Myisha Hines-Allen, Paige Bueckers, and Grace Berger.
Okonkwo delivered a solid performance, recording 12 points, four rebounds, a game-high three steals, and one assist in 27 minutes. However, her efforts weren’t enough to turn the tide for the struggling Wings.

Rookie Paige Bueckers led the Wings with 17 points, while Maddy Siegrist and Diamond Miller added 12 points each. The defeat marked Dallas’ seventh straight loss, leaving them at the bottom of the Western Conference standings.
On the other side, 2025 MVP frontrunner and current scoring leader Napheesa Collier was unstoppable, pouring in 25 points. Natisha Hiedeman posted a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds, Courtney Williams came close with 15 points and nine rebounds, and Bridget Carleton chipped in 12 points for the Lynx.
The Wings have been hit hard by injuries this season, with seven players sidelined, including Arike Ogunbowale, Li Yueru, Ja’Naiya “JJ” Quinerly, Haley Jones, Aziaha James, Tyasha Harris, and Luisa Geiselsöder.
Despite the team’s struggles, Okonkwo continues to shine. Her impressive displays have earned her an extension on her seven-day hardship contract.
