Amy Okonkwo continued her impressive run in the WNBA, scoring a career-high 14 points, but it wasn’t enough as the Dallas Wings fell 101-95 to the Connecticut Sun on Wednesday night (Thursday morning Nigerian time).
The D’Tigress forward, who joined the Wings on a seven-day hardship contract, has steadily improved with each game. She opened her WNBA campaign with eight points against the Seattle Storm, followed by 12 points against the Golden State Valkyries in her second outing.
In addition to her 14 points, Okonkwo contributed two assists, two steals, and one rebound. She shot 5-of-10 from the field and was perfect from the free-throw line, but her efforts couldn’t prevent Dallas from suffering their sixth consecutive loss.

The Wings were without Rookie of the Year contender Paige Bueckers, who withdrew late due to illness. Aziaha James led the team with 22 points, while Myisha Hines-Allen added 18 points off the bench. Maddy Siegrist chipped in 15 points, and Haley Jones finished with 12.
For the Sun, Leïla Lacan matched the game-high with 22 points. Marina Mabrey and veteran Tina Charles scored 18 points each, while Aneesah Morrow and Saniya Rivers contributed 11 points apiece.
Okonkwo’s impressive performances have sparked calls from fans for the Wings to extend her contract through the end of the season. Despite the team’s struggles, she has been a bright spot for the franchise.
