Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers have made a move to strengthen their squad, submitting an official €20 million bid to sign Super Eagles midfielder Chrisantus Uche from Getafe, Bold Sports reports.

According to reports from Fabrizio Romano and Liam Keen, talks are ongoing between both clubs, with Wolves also opening negotiations with Uche’s representatives over personal terms.

Highly rated for his versatility, dribbling, and work rate, Uche has caught the attention of Wolves manager Vitor Pereira, who sees the 22-year-old as a perfect fit for his system.

The Nigerian star can operate effectively both as a midfielder and as a forward, making him a potential replacement for Jorgen Strand Larsen, who has been linked with Newcastle United.

Wolves’ push for Uche comes after a disappointing start to the Premier League season, suffering back-to-back defeats — a 4-0 loss to Manchester City followed by another defeat against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.

Meanwhile, Uche has already hit the ground running this season, playing a starring role in Getafe’s 2-0 win over Celta Vigo on the opening day, where he assisted the first goal and scored the second.

The Nigerian midfielder was also one of Getafe’s standout performers last season, registering four goals and six assists in 33 La Liga appearances to help the club narrowly avoid relegation.

If the deal is completed, Uche would become the latest Super Eagles star to make the move to the Premier League, following in the footsteps of Nottingham Forest’s Ola Aina and Taiwo Awoniyi as well as Fulham duo Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi.
