Super Eagles midfielder Chrisantus Uche was named Most Valuable Player after inspiring Getafe to a 2-0 victory over Celta Vigo in their La Liga opener on Sunday, Bold Sports reports.

Uche set up Getafe’s opening goal before scoring his first of the season to seal a perfect start to the campaign.

Although booked in the 45th minute, the midfielder kept his composure and completed the full 90 minutes without further incident, despite committing five fouls in the game.

Uche registered two shots on target and played a key role for Getafe at both ends of the pitch, combining defensive solidity with attacking drive.

The 22-year-old will aim to build on his bright start to the season when Getafe visit Sevilla on Monday in their second league game. He will also be hoping to surpass the four goals and six assists he recorded in 33 appearances for the club last term.
