Denver Nuggets forward Zeke Nnaji is set to chase his 1,000th career NBA point when his team faces the Phoenix Suns at Ball Arena in Denver Friday night (Saturday morning Nigerian time).

Nnaji, the 22nd overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, scored 10 points in the Nuggets’ 116-110 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Thursday night (Friday morning Nigerian time), bringing his career total to 999 points across five seasons.

Nnaji’s impact for the Nuggets has been limited, largely due to the dominance of three-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokić, who not only serves as the team’s starting center but is also the face of the franchise.

The 24-year-old currently ranks 27th among top scorers from the 2020 NBA Draft lottery class, ahead of only three players: Kira Lewis Jr. (687 points), Udoka Azubuike (256 points), and Leandro Bolmaro (56 points).

Leading the class in scoring is Anthony Edwards with a remarkable 8,595 points, followed by Tyrese Maxey (6,202), Tyrese Haliburton (5,576), Desmond Bane (5,178), and Immanuel Quickley (4,358), rounding out the top five.

Despite limited playing time, Nnaji secured his future with the Nuggets, signing a four-year, $32 million contract extension on October 22, 2023.
