Highly-rated Nigerian talent Daniel Daga made his professional debut for Molde in their Conference League playoff clash against Shamrock Rovers, as the Norwegian side won on penalties to advance to the round of 16.
Daniel Daga who scored for the team during a friendly clash, was an unused substitute in the first leg, which Shamrock Rovers won 1-0 courtesy of a goal by Michael Noonan. As a result, Molde needed a win in the second leg to have any chance of qualifying for the next round.
Molde got off to a strong start, scoring in the 10th minute through Magnus Wolff Eikrem’s goal, which leveled the aggregate scoreline. However, despite creating chances, the Norwegian side were unable to take the lead on the night.

The second half saw Molde dominate possession in search of a winner, but they struggled to create clear-cut chances, ultimately leading to extra time after a 1-1 aggregate scoreline.
During extra time, Daniel Daga came on for his professional debut, replacing Markus André Kaasa as Molde’s head coach sought to inject fresh energy into the team. However, both sides could not be separated after 30 minutes, forcing the game to be decided by penalties.
Molde were flawless during the penaly shootout, as Daniel Daga alongside four of his teammates scored their penalties while Molde’s goalkeeper, Jakob Karlstrøm saved Aaron Greene’s effort to send the Norwegian side to the Conference League round of 16.
After securing victory, Molde will now have to wait for Friday’s round of 16 draw to discover their next opponents between Legia Warszawa and Cercle Brugge.
