Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has revealed why the Spanish giants opted not to pursue Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen following Karim Benzema’s departure.
The Italian tactician shed light on the club’s transfer strategy in an interview with Radio Serie A per Area Napoli.
When asked about Madrid’s interest in Osimhen, and why they didn’t pursue it further, Ancelotti said the interest cooled after the club bought English forward Jude Bellingham.
“No, because I think the club thought that Benzema’s absence could be overcome with the purchase of Bellingham,” he said.
According to him, the club felt the signing of Jude Bellingham would sufficiently compensate for the loss of Benzema.
Bellingham has been in great form since moving to Madrid, scoring 19 league goals in 28 appearance and winning the La Liga and Champions League in his maiden season.
